Introduction:
The Kanaloa Island is an island located on the pacific ocean, near the galapagos archipelago, The island's biome is a tropical jungle, the climate is warm at day, and mildly cold at night, most of the island is over volcanic stones. The island is populated by giant galapagos tortoises similar to the ones that are found on the Isabela island, Marine Iguanas, At least 5 species of finches, colonial seabirds, Galapago penguins, lava lizards, tree anteaters, a pigmy smilodon ( sabertooth cat ) species, the size of a medium dog, and a species of pigmy megatherium (ground sloths) the size of a tibetian mastiff. We can find Candelabra Cactuses, White Mangroves, papaya trees, and a species of blue creeper plant which crawl out of nearly every tree.
Day 2: I woke up in what I assume is the early morning, i was hungry, so I decided to hunt some of the iguanas i saw yesterday, so i walked along the beach with my backpack from my left arm, i managed to sneak a razor blade on my backpack, it was supposed to be used get rid of my awful looking pseudo-mustache, buy, my appereance doesn't was important anymore, no one was going to see my face anymore so ? it was irrelevant, so they will be used for hunting, I made a rudimentary spear with some mangrove roots, and the hunt was started, I managed to kill one big iguana, to later cook and eat with some papayas I gathered after snapping some photos at the beach. This was a long day and its getting dark now i've might build a shelter tomorrow, but for know, im happy under my palm tree
Day 3: I woke up early as usual, i finished eating my iguana and the papaya I had left, before starting exploring the island, i started walking throught the jungle, the air was fresh, the birds were singing a beautiful song, Not so far from the beach, I stepped across a river ! fresh water ! I was so happy, I found a place I can take water from, a place I could settle to,I gathered some branches, and some leaves, I managed to build a rudimentary shelter, it taked a few hours, but i finally managed to get a place to sleep comfortably, i was going out of resources, I had to visit the plane again... but i was afraid of wath lays inside...but.. i had to survive, I shall overcome and rise over my fears, I was decided, I was going inside that plane, because, I was going to survive, no mather what...
later that day, I stepped in the plane, taked a deep breath, and opened my eyes... it was empty... There wasn't... Anyone ?It was empty... Soo.. i assumed everyone was on the island ! My friends ! They were alive ! I wasn't alone ! but... it was night... and i was feeling very tired, so I decided to sleep on the plane
Day 4: I woke up at the plane at the time i assume is between 11.00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., I rested a lot las night, I was very tired, and the plane sits were very comfortable, so I slept for hours and hours, and woke up late, then i stepped out the plane and walked for like one or two hours until I reached a little lake, and, they therewere ! all my classmates! they were alive and well! Time Log:
Day 1 (Introduction): I've arrived here by a plane accident, i was on a flight to Chile with my classmates. We were near Ecuador when one of the engines failed. the plane crashed on a desert island,. After the crash I stayed on the plane for some minutes, I was shocked, and,, the ackward silence only maked everything worst, during most of the flight, Yassir and Josue were very loud... And know... there is only silence.. I can't hear Mr. Sarmiento, he was giving us suggestions and advices... but... He is quiet know... After the shock, i covered my face and ran out the plane, but not without gathering my stuff before leaving, I waited outside the plane for a few hours, waiting for someone, before tears run out my eyes, I was alone, i was stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, with no one to talk, no one to smile...No one to... Nothing, i guess i'll go insane and eventually die, so i'll call this place ''Kanaloa'' like the hawaiian god of death and the underworld, because... I'm already on my own underworld, all alone and doomed, on my own personal oblivion, but now i have to focus on my survival. night has comed, i'll sleep under a palm tree, i'm sure nothing can killme here, The only animals I saw during the day where marine iguanas, tortoises, and finches, so i'm sure ill be fine.![]() |

again! I wasn't alone anymore...I was feeling...So Happy...So euphoric..But the violent and heavy silence that surrounded the group didn't let me shout or run,or hug everybody, something happened, there was something clearly wrong, eveyone was clearly terrified,I stepped towards Marcela, and asked her, what happened, she was palid, the tipical smile on her face... had disappered, and that anguished me... because if her isn't smilling, that means that something is terribly bad, I stepped deeper into the small crowd, and I saw Gabriel, his arm was hurt, he had two wounds ,they looked like marks of two enourmous teeth, I asked him what happened here, He told me that they were attacked by a group of relatively small, sabertoothed beasts, although they were the size of a coyote, they were very strong and muscular, and they were at least 7 animals, they looked quite like small pumas with sharp tooth and a very small tale, they looked like...Sabertooth Cats? But that's impossible, the last one of this beasts died around 10,000 years ago !...the day is still clear an, there is a lot of material on the area, they were some thick trees too,so I suggested to build tree shelters, to be safe of this animals, the idea passed from mouth to mouth until reached the leader, Yassir, and he talk to me and we started planning, he send three boys and three girls to gather wood, then we started building the bases and floor to one of this ''tree huts'', and we used our number, to finish them quickly, each hut taked 10 minutes to build, and they looked quite decent, we managed to build 24 huts on 4 hours, we will use them tonight. Every hut was made from a wooden base, palm tree leafs and creepers and on top, wooden walls and a wooden and covered on bark roof, the structures were attached by a weird type of higly sticky blue creeper plant that was endemic to the region, It was sunset, everyone gathered around a campfire that Carlos had set up by by orders of the leader. The group had only ate passion fruits, starfruits, mangos, and avocados for four days, they wanted flesh, they were bored of fruits, and I had to marine iguanas I've hunted two days ago, i gave them to the ''tribe'', they ate them very quickly, they were hungry. Darkness was already casted over us, and we were still awake, discussing around the campfire, Someone suggested that we should name the island, I suggested the name I had gave the island previously, ''Kanaloa'', they liked it.before going to sleep I checked Gabriel's arm.the whounds were superficial.
Day 5: I woke up at why assume was the late noon,, between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., by the time I woke up, most of the people were looking for food, as unexpectedly nearly no one had eaten today, there only were like 6 persons on the villlage now, I didn't know where they were looking for food as i'd joined them yesterday, they were probably inspired by the iguanas I gave them yesterday and decided to go hunting, or maybe they'd sticked to the gatherer niche they had implemented in to the island's ecology by gathering fruits and seeds for our subsistence ,or maybe we were carnivorous now ? Sincerely, I didn't care about what we were doing to the island now, we were a invasive species, we were like the cats the spaniards brought to the new world, we where adapted to more harsh enviroments that one one the animals of the island were adapted to, we knew how to make spears, we knew complex strategy, we knew how to act in a coordinate way, our social structure was the pinnacle of order as an species, we learned quickly, we adapt easily,we knew to bring our needs to us, and don't have the neccesity of wasting energy, in contrast with the species of the island, they were only adapted to co exist between them, they were only adapted to live in their little island, they had been landlocked for atleast the end of the last ice age, or about 18,000 years ago, We were ''destined'' to outcompete them into extinction, we will surely kill the local fauna, either by over hunting, stealing there resources, or with our pathogens, It would be very difficult to be an ''pacific'' invasive species, and if we were rescued we will bring more humans here, we brought the curse of humanity in to one of the most beatiful places on earth, with our only presence, we condemned this place... we killed Kanaloa .Later the missing people returned, they described seeing a big, hairy beast that walked on all fours, but like a gorrila, over its knuckles, someone identified as a ground sloth, they were pacific, gentle giants, even do this ones were big, but not so big, we decided to not kill one of them until we have a farm. It was late at night, so I decided to head to my hut to sleep.
Day 6: I woke up very early just to step out of my hut to explore, I founded that Xavier, Vallejo and Josue were awake too, I had a quick talk with them, and then I resumed my journey, I found three galapagos giant turtles near the river, they were eating seeds, there shells were very thick, there neck was short, they looked like the turtles that inhabit the ones of the biggest island of the Galapagos, the Isabela island, maybe we were near this island, but surely we were not near Isabela island, we are near the galapagos, but, no so near. further into the jungle, I saw some finches flying near the ground, they were several of them, their feathers were very brown and opaque, their beak was big, thick and armoured, made to crack seeds and break into cactuses. nearly two hours deeper into the jungle i saw a very rare and cruel show, the battle between a young saber tooth and a ground sloth, the sloth managed to win this time, and the tiny predator was bleeding from its chest, the sloth's claws pierced into the poor cat and leaved. I picked the animal, I ripped off a piece of the shirt I was using, I had more shirts back on my hut so I didn't care about it. Hours later I arrived to the village, there were mixed opinions on the ''new pet'' I brought unto the village, some were afraid, some thought It was cute, but I was feeling tired and sick. I stepped into my hut, I sleeped very quick even thought I haven't eat nearly anything for that day, and It was very early. I feelt like I was dying,
Day 7: I was feeling extremely terrible, I was feeling cold, a prove that I had fever, I tried to stand up, but the junctures of my knees hurted,it wasn't a normal kind of pain, it was worst, it feel like a wormwas eating my bones, and my head was killing me, it was malaria or dengue, it was a death sentence, I started crying because, my life was ending, I surelly missed my family, the world, my past life but this wasn't the thought that haunted my head the most , I felt frustrated because I didn't maked a positive impact on nobody, I didn't helped anyone, I didn't maked a change, No one was going to remember my name, my grave, was going to be an unknown one, my bones were rotting and my memories would rot with them, my feelings, my soul, were parrishing. Death was whispering into my ear, but I didn't wanted to die there, there was a little to do, but if I had an opportunity, I was going to take them, I was going to fullfill my goals, I was going to survive, This island couldn't beat me, I checked by my side and the little sabertooth cat I saved yesterday, was asleep. he looked so peaceful, I was so excited to see it grow, he could help us in the future but for now I was going to sleep.
First Month: 30 days had passed since we crashed unto the island, and 3 weeks had past since the last time I recorded someting on my journal, I've been drinking a lot of herbal ''teas'' and they had really helped me, so I continued drinking them so I can be healthier, onthe time i've spend sick on my hut, a second village was built, a one for farmers, I haven't visited it yet, but several people moved there.a mini farm was built, mangos, liches, passion fruits, and papaya were planted, and some ground sloths and iguanas were captured, My village was know only occupied by 25 persons, as the rest moved to the ''farming village'',there was no need of hunting as we started breeding iguanas and sloths, Dania was choosen as the coordinator of the farming village. One night I was talking with Yassir about exploring the island, and at the end of the Third week I packed important stuff and took ten boys with me,we build a third village before leaving, most of them were previous farmers, but know they are explorers, and I'm their leader, as explorers, ou job is the explore new land, catalog the flora and fauna of the island, searching for medicinal properties in plants, and giving alive plants and animals for the farmers so they can ''harvest'' them. On our first expedition we reached a Lake, Which I called Lake Sumeria, there were no trees on the coast, and nearly 10 meters near it, this expedition was short it lasted 2 days, we managed to register 5 plants, 8 species of invertebrate animals, Giant turtles, and 2 species of lizards. At the end of the month we had an meeting at the main village, we were looking how to resolve manyproblems and organize the village, while we enjoyed the food and the campfire.
First Year: At the end of the first year we had already explored the island entirely, we discovered that they are three biomes on this island a rainforest, a savanna and a temperate forest on a dead volcano. each biome has different animals and plants inhabiting it. at the end of the first year me and my boys had register 40 plant species and 35 animal species on 7 expeditions throughout the span of a year. Another farm and a fishing village were establised. Meetings are regular now every friday night we gather in the main village to talk, and give reports to the leaders we stay in the old huts during fridays, the people who reside on this village has to mantain the huts clean, and in a good state . We decided to change the general leader once every 2 years. Surprisingly we had mantained a great order throughout this first year, we hope everything stays in order for the years that will come in the future.
Culture: Our culture is very similar to Honduran culture as Honduras is the home of most of the islanders, during the time on the islands some legends and myths had been created, There is a legend that giant snakes inhabit the west of the island, and other one that fire spirits that take a humanoid form live on the top of Mt. Dun the biggest mountain on the island.our clothes are classical western clothes, the ones that we brought from our home, our hygiene is very strict as we have to bath at least once a day, and clean your teeths at least 4 times daily, we use plants for this task, there is an assigned place for a bathroom 6 meters away from every village you have to cover your human wastes with dirt for higyene and health reasons. We do laundry once a week. and we respect nature, for every tree we cut we plant two, for each animal we kill on the farms, we breed two more, before killing our food we gave the animal a tranquilizer fungus to give them the least suffering possible, we believe that every life of every living being is valuable and important. We try to live in balance with nature as we think this is the only path to hapiness.
Language: We speak Spanish and English, as we have both native english and spanish speakers, we use both languages.
Religion: There is no stablished religion in the island, there are a good amount of christhians on the island, but a lot of people follow an island created doctrine called Naturaliasm few of there concepts are, there is no superior entity, no afterlife, you are just a part of the earth, and if I you go far your natural roots sadness and sickness are attacking you a because you are not being part of nature and life itself, one of the goals of this doctrine is to be happy and help others to be happy too.
